DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA
2004 - Present
Direct the planning, developing, administering of all aspects
of undergraduate admissions and recruiting. Responsible also
for all international admissions and for processing of admission
to the professional schools of
medicine, veterinary medicine, and law.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA
2002 - 2004
Function as second in line to Director of admissions,
hire, oversee training and supervise admissions advisors, support staff and
student workers. Assist with budget decisions, provide supervision and
oversight of admissions operations and serve as point person regarding
admissions policies. Serve as first line of appeal for denials. Recommend
and implement procedures to improve admissions processing and communication
with applicants. Serve as primary transfer coordinator and supervise campus
transfer credit evaluation process. Serve as liaison with Financial Aid
Office regarding scholarships. Serve as functional lead for PeopleSoft
implementation process.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-COLUMBIA 1997 - 2002
Accomplishments include:
- Coordinated and supervised the project to centralize all transfer credit evaluations on campus, working with every academic unit on campus and the Office of the Provost.
- Revised coding and file creation procedures and significantly reduced the amount of time needed to create a new applicant file.
- Revised the application process, eliminating second review of most applicants by advisors, thus reducing turn around time for decisions.
- Developed spreadsheet to track all major office mailings, including previous year’s quantities, job numbers, and costs.
- Enabled the Admissions Office to use the data warehouse for instant reports for the first time.
- Developed the first prospective student transfer database, now used to promote our annual Transfer Day. Tripled the number of participants in Transfer Day.
- Wrote, edited and coordinated the development of the first full MU Transfer Application / Guidebook.
- Worked with programming staff to design transfer student web application and for additional enhancements to transfer web pages.
- Worked with programming staff to develop ability for students to check the status of their application on-line and to check for missing transcripts.
DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY 1993 - 1997
Managed the processing and review of 4,000 applications annually to the School of Medicine. Hired, supervised, trained and evaluated staff.
Provided academic advising for current and prospective medical school applicants and served as the first line of appeal for denials. Coordinated all special
programs with specific undergraduate colleges. Provided statistical reports and analysis for faculty, administration, national accrediting agencies and the
American Association of Medical Colleges. Represented the School of Medicine at regional and national meetings.
Accomplishments include:
- Evaluated software database systems and coordinated the implementation of a new
software system and the participation in AMCAS for the first time in the history
of the medical school. This included requests for modification of the software
and training of all admissions staff.
- Coordinated the writing, editing and layout of the 4-color brochure for the
School of Medicine.
- Served on the committee which monitored technical standards for admissions to
the medical school, relative to the American Disabilities Act.
- Served on the Web Advisory Committee for the School of Medicine and the Medical
Center at Strong Memorial Hospital.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR COLLEGE CENTER FOR ACADEMIC SUPPORT UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER 1990 - 1993
Provided advisory and administrative services to undergraduates, including highly sensitive matters. Supervised testing and placement
for all incoming students and supervised proctoring services for final exams. Developed and monitored advising strategies for students on academic probation.
Provided academic-related services to students with disabilities. Participated in hiring, supervision and evaluation of staff.
PROJECT DIRECTOR EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES MONROE COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROCHESTER, NEW YORK 1989-1990
Developed and monitored a new program that enabled 65 employees to take college courses while they were employed by the Department of Social Services.
Admitted, registered and advised all students. Conducted seminars to assist adults with transition to college.
REGISTRAR AND DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS COLUMBIA-GREENE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 1983 - 1989
Developed and monitored recruitment practices to meet enrollment goals. Coordinated conversion of admissions and registration data to new software system and
was lead contact with programming staff. Monitored Early Admission Program for high school students. Implemented the College’s registration, auditing, senior citizen enrollment
and second degree policies and procedures. Prepared and administered annual budget for Records, Registration and Admissions. Supervised and evaluated all office professional and
civil service staff. Served on the Academic Standards, Curriculum and Honors Committees. Edited and contributed copy to the college catalog and viewbook.
