Who
We Are – What We Do
The Office of Admissions includes four divisions:
Recruitment – The
recruiting staff represents Mizzou to prospective students
and their parents. They host on-campus recruitment events
including Meet Mizzou Days, Black and Gold Days, and daily
presentation for campus visitors. Serving as the first point
of contact between Mizzou and prospective students, the recruiting
staff also travels extensively to high schools throughout
the state and the Midwest, delivering workshops on College
Planning, attending college fairs, and counseling students
on admission and financial aid procedures as well as the many
advantages of Mizzou.
Evaluators – Admissions
evaluators are responsible for processing the applications
and determining the admission status for all students who
apply. Evaluators also determine transfer equivalencies
and process all paper work involving a students admission
to Mizzou.
VA/Residency - The VA Certifying
Official works in conjunction with the Department of Veterans
Affairs to process student enrollments so current or former
members of the military, or their dependents, may receive
educational benefits for educational purposes. The Certifying
Official also monitors student progress by reporting changes
occurring in the student's training time, and/or instances
of incomplete grades and unsatisfactory progress.
The Residency Evaluator reviews student
petitions under guidelines established by the Missouri Board
of Higher Education. This individual also examines the admissions
applications of students whose statement of in-state residency
contains conflicting information. Acting as the point of
contact with the Chancellor's Committee on Fee Assessment,
the Residency Evaluator arranges appeals and informs the
Committee of his/her decision of denial before each case
is heard.
International Admissions
– The International Admissions Office at the University
of Missouri-Columbia serves International students who are
seeking degrees or visiting the university temporarily. Following
are the major responsibilities of the International Admissions
Office:
- Distribute international application
materials to prospective students and answer all questions
regarding the application process.
- Provide initial review for all graduate
applications
- Determine academic eligibility for undergraduate
students (with some exceptions)
- Evaluate transfer credit for Study
Abroad students
