Hometown:  Maple Hill, Kansas

Degrees: BA Communication Studies, MA Journalism both from the University of Kansas

Favorite Hobby: My favorite hobby is painting. I prefer oils, but also often use acrylic or watercolors.  I love painting landscapes, but have also recently branched out more into florals and still life subjects, with a modern twist.

Interesting Fact: I am a 4-H project leader for Advance Art. I work with youth ages 11-18 and teach them painting or whatever type of visual art they want to explore. I’ve also lead other projects such as Leadership and Public Speaking.  When I was young, I learned a great deal in 4-H that has influenced my life and I want to pass it on.

Favorite Food: I’m a foodie. I love good food, preferably locally sourced and prepared with passion and personal input.  When I travel, I seek out the local, quirky, well-love locals.  Broadway Brewery is one of my favorite restaurants because it meets all these qualifications!

Favorite Activity: I love the outdoors. Hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, riding my bike on the Katy Trail, exploring the Ozarks or wandering the Flint Hills of Kansas, I’m in my element if I am in nature.

Favorite Spot of Campus: My favorite spot on campus is a toss-up between the Francis Quadrangle, which is right outside my window, and the Lilly Pond in the corner near University and College.  It’s tucked down in so you cannot see it from the road, but it is a great place to chill out and think, away from the hustle and bustle of campus.
